Q. I am trying to decorate my living room without professional help. How important are design rules? Do I need to read "how to" books on interior design? Mandy Liston, East HelenaA. Rules are made to be broken and that includes ones on decorating. Can you successfully decorate your living room without professional help? Absolutely! Will you make mistakes, probably, but that's OK. We learn from our mistakes. Here are some decorating thoughts to inspire your creative endeavor.n Be a copycat. Very few decorated spaces are completely original. Interior Designers are inspired by current trends, magazine photos, and retail displays. Clip out photos from magazines of rooms or furniture that you are drawn to and store in a 3 ring binder. Brighten your décor with lamps and shades
Improving lighting in a home can be as involved as bringing in a lighting designer or as simple as heading to a hardware store for a dimmer. For those looking for minimal change, yet wanting a fresh look, changing a lampshade is one way to add another design element to a room. Floor and table lamps create a cozy mood that can be enhanced by simply plugging the lamp into affordable dimmers that plug into the wall, available at most hardware stores. "The room will feel a little warmer, cozy because you want to go sit next to that lamp and curl up," said Jeff Boone, a lighting consultant and manager at Lamps Plus in Bellevue. "If it's brightly lit, it will feel like activity." And interesting lampshades are widely available at discount and high-end stores.
Seoul Semiconductor Introduces Warm White Ariche
April 19, 2007... Seoul Semiconductor, makers of the AC powered Ariche light source, report that the company has now produced warm white Ariche luminaires. The company says that the light source has an efficiency of 42 lm/W, and the overall system efficiency is 39.9 lm/W (Actual System Efficiency = Luminous Efficiency Ballast Efficiency Luminaire Efficiency). The company indicated that the Ariche system has more than 5-times the efficiency of incandescent lamps (operating at 7.5 lm/W), and it is about 30 percent more efficient than compact fluorescents which operate at 30.6 lm/W. Seoul said that the light source operating without the system at 42 lm/W is 20 percent more efficient than that of a conventional warm white DC LED which averages almost 35 lm/W. One of the benefits of the Ariche system is that it does not require an AC/DC converter or a ballast.

Celaya set for battle at Palma
This time, Celaya (28-3, 15 KOs) is set to fight April 21 at Palma High School in a show being dubbed as the first chapter in "The Trilogy of Celaya." His opponent has not yet been named. "Sometimes fighters are not in the right frame of mind," Celaya said Tuesday afternoon, explaining the most recent period of inactivity. "Sometimes you're not comfortable with the negotiations with the promoter." In other words, sometimes things happen - and sometimes they just don't. And lately, they just haven't. Since suffering a brutal loss to undefeated James "Spider" Webb in 2005, Celaya's career and personal life have suffered. Months after that loss on national TV, he was struck in the head by a shot from a pellet gun and was taken to a San Jose hospital by helicopter.
